Currently Accepting Clients on a Waitlist
My name is Alexandria Brintnall, but I would like for you to call me Alex. I earned a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Wake Forest University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in 2016. I also obtained my undergraduate degree from Wake Forest, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I currently hold the following license: Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (issued by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors) #12811. I have been practicing counseling for approximately seven years, and look forward to devoting myself to this career for many years to come. I currently offer Virtual Counseling sessions and In-Person sessions.
I enjoy the opportunity to offer clients a trusting and safe environment to process thoughts, recent life events and changes as well as more specific interpersonal challenges and concerns. Additionally, I can provide a non-judgmental and compassionate approach for clients that are seeking a warm, yet goal-directed, therapeutic experience.
The majority of my work focuses mainly on individuals struggling with anxiety and depression, as well couples/families struggling with connection and communication. I work with adults over the age of 18, with a primary focus on mothers and couples. I am Safe Zone certified for the LGBTQIA+ community and am committed to anti-racist work.
In my work with my clients, my theoretical approach to counseling is mainly a Person-centered approach, which involves a great deal of positivity and encouragement. I also work from what is called a Solution-Focused Brief Therapy perspective, meaning I work with you to discover and act upon your own solutions in order to overcome the obstacles in your life. Additionally, I incorporate elements from other theoretical approaches, including the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
